EARLY MORNING FROST BLANKETS THE WAKATIPU BASIN

ABOVE: Breaking through the cloud the road snakes up the mountain to the skifield and to the saddle of the infamous Skippers Canyon Road

The lower slopes of Coronet Peak are covered in strange ridges and hills, which look amazing in the mornings and afternoons, their forms accentuated by light and shadow. Snow cover melts faster where there is more sun, so you get “snow shadow” effect.
